JOIN A FOAL SHARE SYNDICATE!
If you would like to get involved with a racehorse from the moment of birth (almost!) and see him develop into a racehorse, then this could be a fun and low-cost syndicate. The plan is to let the colt develop and consign him to the yearling sales in the Autumn of 2027, when he will hopefully make a good price and generate a profit for syndicate members.
The colt was born on 21st February 2026. He is a fine young animal with good bone, and looks like he will fill out nicely. He is by the stallion CATURRA, who is based at Overbury Stud. Click the link for more details on Caturra. Click Here
Caturra’s first runners will see the racecourse in 2026, and his debut crop were given a firm thumbs-up from buyers at Tattersalls. The stud are hoping he will be another Ardad as he is likely to produce some real speed merchants!
His foals are sharp, early types, and he is expected to put speed into his progeny. Caturra won the Gr.2 Flying Childers Stakes over 5 furlongs at Doncaster as a 2yo, and that race has been the launchpad for many future stallions, so it’s a nice box to tick for breeders.
This colt is very well bred. Besides being by Caturra, he is out of the mare SUNSHINEANDBUBBLES who was a prolific winner for one of our previous syndicates and won eleven races.

The mating of CATURRA and SUNSHINEANDBUBBLES is rated a “20/20” match
The G1 Goldmine pedigree analysis system assesses the cross as “Outstanding”
This is because similar matings have produced Stakes winners.

How The Syndicate Will Work
This syndicate will be more of a “slow burn” experience than getting involved with a horse who is about to start their racing career, so it offers a very different perspective for owners. The initial objective is to enter the colt for the yearling sales in 2027 (sometime between August and October), when we expect there will be an opportunity to take a good profit at that point. The colt’s ultimate value will depend on two things:
- How successful Caturra’s 2yos are in his first two seasons, and
- How well the progeny of the dam perform over the same period.
The colt’s 3yo half-sister is currently in training with top trainer Jack Channon. She was placed five times as a two year old in 2025, and her trainer expects her to win races in 2026, which will strengthen the credentials of the colt and make him more attractive to buyers.
A yearling full-brother of this colt will also go into training in 2027. He looks an early type, and will be a good advert for the colt during the 2027 season.
We can expect a precocious colt out of a winning mare – who has already produced a winner or two – should definitely catch the eye of market, and hopefully make some “proper” money in the Yearling Sales.
Understanding the Bloodstock Market
Colts always attract higher prices than fillies. Caturra’s first crop yearling sales in 2025 saw fillies make up to 42,000gns, while the colts went for up to 60,000gns. Prices are likely to rise in the next couple of years if Caturra does as well as expected as a stallion. Overbury Stud’s stallion ARDAD proved that trend of rising prices.
- In 2020, Ardad’s first crop yearlings saw the top-priced colt sell for 55,000 guineas
- In 2021, his second crop saw the top price jump to 150,000 gns, with a median price of 70,000 gns.
- In 2022, the top price of a colt reached 200,000 gns.
Share Purchase Price
The cost of buying a share in the colt is based on the expenses incurred in the production of the foal:
- Caturra’s advertised covering fee (£5000)
- The foaling fee charged by the stud
- Other veterinary costs
- Foal registration fees
- Transport costs, plus
- A small contribution to the cost of keeping the mare at stud while in foal.
This adds up to around £8,000 so a 10% share will cost £800 and a 5% share only £400.
Ongoing Monthly Costs
We obviously have to pay for feed and livery for the foal until he is ready to be sold, and those keep fees would last for around 18-20 months from April 2026. Including routine veterinary fees and feed supplements, the cost will average out at around £750 a month.
So ongoing monthly costs associated with owning this colt will be:
- £37.50 per month for a 5% share, and
- £75 per month for a full 10% share
Regular payments from shareholders will be collected by direct debit, and your ownership stake will be covered by a BHA-approved syndicate agreement and Certificate of Ownership.
Syndicate Member Involvememt
The foal will be boarded throughout the period at Mickley Stud (near Market Drayton in Shropshire). While he is boarding at stud we will:
- Provide members with photos and videos to allow you to track his development
- Arrange group visits to the stud from time to time for shareholders to see him for themselves and meet the Stud Owner.
- Organise solo visits to the stud on request through the syndicate manager.

Disclaimer
If Caturra proves successful as a stallion, and the other progeny of Sunshineandbubbles win races in 2026 and 2027, the colt should be worth significantly more than we would have contributed. That’s the plan!
Obviously this is a speculative venture, and there are no guarantees in the bloodstock industry, so this should not be regarded as an investment.
Membership of the syndicate should primarily be for enjoyment, and the chance to experience the horse’s journey from birth to the sales, and possibly beyond, with behind-the-scenes access to the foal as he develops, periodic visits to the stud farm to see the foal and the facilities, and enjoying a nice lunch afterwards.
CATURRA is a son of Mehmas. He was brilliantly quick and precocious, and should pass on those characteristics to his progeny. He won the Flying Childers Stakes at 2 years, with a real surge of speed which was nothing short of exceptional.
The Flying Childers is a stallion-making race, and he was faster than many leading freshman sires who have contested it – and that includes the likes of Green Desert, Dark Angel, Havana Grey, and Ardad. He was faster than Big Evs and Aesterius too!
His first crop yearlings were bought by very shrewd judges of juvenile speed. They also outsold the first yearlings by Ardad, who also stands at Overbury Stud, another Flying Childers winner who has produced some amazing juveniles!
Dam Details
SUNSHINEANDBUBBLES ran for one of our Amazing Racing syndicates. She was a prolific winner, with victories every year for five years, achieving eleven victories in total, and was placed a further 21 times. She won from 1 mile upwards, and came from a family that produced several other multiple winners. Her daughter Sunshine And Roses initially ran over 6 furlongs, but was placed 5 times at 7f or above at two years of age, and will be winning races in 2026.
The syndicate term will run until the the colt is sold at the yearling sales and no later than 30th November 2027.
In early 2027, the colt will be nominated for the major yearling sales at Goffs and Tattersalls which take place in the Autumn. He will then be entered for the most appropriate sale(s) for which he is accepted by the auction houses.
Should the syndicate receive offers to purchase the colt privately before going to auction, owners will decide by vote.
