Oh dear, that was one that got away!

Our jockey, Eddy Greatrex, was most apologetic after the race as he said Sunshine And Roses should have won this, but he stayed on the inside with the filly, expecting the leader to drift off the rail a furlong out, and that didn’t happen.

Unfortunately Eddy didn’t get the gap he expected, and he was denied a clear run until it was just too late. When she eventually did get some daylight, he couldn’t get her going quickly enough to win. Although he managed to get her up to third inside the final furlong, she ended up losing that position just towards the finish, so nothing went right.

Despite that, she ran well overall. Our jockey owned up to not giving her the best of rides, and we have seen she is capable of winning races, so plenty of positives to come out of the race.
