Racing Is Back, And We Have A Winner!
It is excellent news that racing has restarted in the UK, even if it is behind closed doors at the moment. We are grateful to the stable staff who have kept things ticking over while racing was in lockdown, and for the support of our owners who have kept the faith during this difficult period.
We were keen to get back in action, and David Evans kept our star mare in light training during the lockdown, to ensure that she was ready to go as soon as possible when racing resumed. On Tuesday 9th June we saw her in action on TV at last, when she lined up for the first division of the “Follow At The Races On Twitter Handicap” over a mile and a half.
David Nolan kept her held up towards the rear, and she always seemed to be travelling well. When David pushed her on two furlongs out, she kept on well under a hands and heels ride, finding a gap inside the final furlong and grabbing the lead towards the finish, winning a shade cosily in the end after a gutsy performance.
We will be in no hurry to find her next race as she seems to benefit from being fresh, but it looks as if there will be more wins to come. That was her eighth career success, and she has won or been placed in five of her eight starts since she moved to the David Evans yard, so many thanks to our trainer. This was his first win since the resumption of racing so we were delighted that it was Sunshineandbubbles who got him back on the scoreboard!
