BHA Licence Granted

From 1st January 2026, all syndicate managers will have to be licenced by the BHA.
As members of the Racehorse Syndicates Association, we have long supported the introduction of regulation to control who can and can’t set up syndicates, as there have been several (sometimes high-profile) syndicate failures over the years.
Often this happens because people think it is easy, and if they have previously been a member of a syndicate, they think they can do it themselves.
However, this has sometimes led to instances of mismanagement and underfunding of syndicates, mainly due to a lack of understanding of all the costs – besides training fees themselves – that syndicates have to take account of in their budgets.
So we welcome this change and believe it will improve standards in the industry.
I am delighted to announce that the BHA have confirmed that a “Licence to Manage Syndicates and Racing Clubs” has now been issued to Amazing Racing as the BHA are satisfied we meet the required criteria and standards.
The BHA regulator examines whether we are competent to manage and operate a Syndicate or Racing Club, giving due regard to the interests of Members and the sport generally, and we also have to complete a “Licence to Manage Syndicates and Racing Clubs” course followed by an assessment.
Besides scrutinising our Competence and Capability, the BHA also examine our knowledge of the Rules of Racing, Financial Security, and Honesty and Integrity, which partly focuses on how truthfully we promote and advertise our syndicates.
