Wolverhampton Winner!
Our 3yo filly SUNSHINE AND ROSES came home strongly from off the pace to get up late and shed her maiden tag at Wolverhampton last night over the extended mile, much to the delight of syndicate members who landed a right touch!
Trained by top handler JACK CHANNON, she was unlucky not to win as a 2yo, but was placed several times, including over yesterday’s course and distance. This seems to be her trip for now, but she was going on at the finish so she will likely be capable of further. Her dam also broke her maiden at three, and went on to win 11 races, so we know the family well, and hope she can be as successful.
She was travelling well throughout, and her jockey George Bass did well to win from a hold-up position when the track was favouring front runners. He managed to get out into a wide position coming off the final bend, then came charging down the middle of the track, showing some real speed in the closing stages and reeling in the favourite.
The post-race statistics showed that she had the highest average speed, the highest closing speed, and the highest run-out speed after the line, which suggests she will be capable of stepping up in trip as she was going so well at the finish, and certainly seemed to find an extra gear in the closing stages.
Now she has won her first race, we expect her to add more wins over the summer. She shows a great attitude. Her dam won her first race as a three year old, and went on to win eleven races in total, so the prospects are excellent for her to become just as successful.
